Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring that all our systems and databases are fully integrated so they deliver fast, robust and reliable services to all users.

Bio:

I've been involved with IT for over twenty years, since before Windows was a twinkle in Bill Gate’s eye. I started as a software developer for a small computer reseller, travelling to clients and developing bespoke solutions to meet their needs. After that, I spent several years working for a computer consultancy as an analyst programmer delivering database solutions, initially across local area networks then, as the technology evolved, across WANs. From there, I moved to London to work for a direct marketing company managing the electoral roll database of over 46 million records. I have also been involved with a few publishing companies, managing their circulation databases and infrastructure.

Favourite Thing:

Roast pork crackling and my pet, cuddly camel.

Pet Hate:

Queuing (for anything).

Special Talent:

Pancake Tossing. I've managed to get one to do three rotations!

What makes me happy:

Lounging in the bath with a good book and a strong cup of coffee (or at week-ends perhaps something even stronger!)

My worst habit:

Smoking and not seeming to be able to quit.

Richard Dawkins because I admire his great intellect and share his fascination of the wonders of the universe and his deep love of science.
