Why IT Outsourcing is an Emerging Trend Amongst Public and Private Sector Companies

Norwich, UK (July 5, 2010) – Following the economic crisis, the outsourcing of internal IT functions has emerged as a growing trend as companies look to cut costs.

While outsourcing IT can free up a company’s time and budget, there are pitfalls to avoid. Supply Chain Digital weighs up the potential risks associated with IT outsourcing and advises on how to avoid them.

“In-house IT management is complicated, time consuming and requires the finance, resource and capacity that businesses, especially following the recession, simply don’t have — something which is not set to change any time soon,” explained Stephenson.

In the document, entitled ‘Developing Outsourcing Strategies’, Monaghan emphasizes customer satisfaction as a vital measure of the success of an outsourcing.

In what has been called the ‘golden age of outsourcing’, the industry expects figures for outsourcing to exceed £140 billion by 2015.

Government too is jumping on the outsourcing bandwagon. The £95 million axe that is due to be taken to IT spending could leave many government IT departments with an uncertain future, according to Neil Stephenson, CEO of Onyx.
